Stacey has known MaryJo since she was two years old! She and her Mom used to walk by the school just to say hello. They soon came for an interview at Harmony WLC (Formerly Four Seasons Montessori - FSM) and were waiting for MaryJo to be ready to start school. Until then, they continued their walks to visit and sent lovely notes.

When MaryJo started school at Harmony WLC she was quite shy, but after feeling more comfortable and with lots of encouragement, she began to really let us know who she was! As she stayed with us until entering Grade 1, MaryJo became such an important member of our classroom community and was a role model to all of the other students. MaryJo, now 16 has continued to grow and flourish into a confident individual who always strives to do her best! She wants to spread positivity, happiness and hope through the beautiful art form of ballet. In addition, she has her own YouTube channel where she strives to encourage others and inspire through her self choreographed dances.

Here are a few of MaryJo’s many accomplishments:

  • In Grade 8, she won the Principal's Award for Outstanding Leadership as well as excellence in academic achievement.
  • A poem of hers was published in a Young Authors of Canada poetry book called “Serenity”.
  • She was the runner up out of all Canada for the youth in action METOWE award from Craig Kielburger and Free the Children for her work in trying to help make the world a better place by using her passions for good.
  • MaryJo auditioned and was accepted into Eastwood Collegiate’s integrated arts program.
  • She won first place at OSSD Dancefest for a self-choreographed solo
  • MaryJo auditioned and got the role as a dancer in Drayton Entertainment’s Peter Pan.
  • She received distinction on her Royal Academy of Dance ballet examination, the highest honour.
  • MaryJo has been accepted as one of 20 students to study with Canadian ballet legend Evelyn Hart and was invited to train with her full time! She has now moved to Toronto with her parents to be able to fulfill her dream of becoming a professional ballet dancer.

Here is some feedback straight from MaryJo:

“I believe that my time at FSM helped me build a sense of independence and freedom inside of myself to discover the type of person I wanted to be purely and truthfully, unaltered by what others thought I should be and thought I could or could not do. This helped me to be able to harvest that and help myself grow as an individual. It helped me build a strong work ethic and passion for learning which is important everywhere you go. It instilled in me that values of respect, compassion, drive, dedication, positivity , community , and much more. These are all areas that unleash your fullest potential as a human being and they help build an expansive perspective and willingness to be open minded and living life with a sense of purpose and understanding.”
